Converting a converter/cartridge fountain pen, is I have discovered, a very, very simple operation.This project requires only four things, 1) first and most important, a fountain pen with a solid barrel, if the barrel has any crack or holes it will leak, 2) 100% silicone grease, which is available at any hardware store in the US (I know that my friend, Sam at Future; Nostalgic was unable to locate this in the UK and substituted teflon tape), 3) an eyedropper or syringe to fill the barrel with ink and 4) fountain pen ink.
I prefer to use a clear or demonstrator type pen for this and chose, in this instance, a Hero FPS-006. The clear barrel allows me to monitor the ink level after conversion.
Remove the nib section from the barrel and remove the converter, saving it for future use.
Apply a small amount of silicone grease to the threads that join the barrel to the nib section and reassemble the pen, wipe any excess grease away and begin writing.
Fill the barrel with the desired fountain pen ink in this case, I chose J. Herbin Poussiere de Lune.
I have done this with three pens - the Hero FPS-006, a Sheaffer calligraphy pen with a medium nib and a Pilot Preppy, all with great success.

I'm glad to see the Ace logo on your silicon grease; if nothing else, standardization means that the Ace down the street probably has the same stuff that I could do this, too.

Lowe's sells silicon grease also. What I found was called Plumber's Silicon Grease and it has worked on Preppies and Varsities.

Welcome to the club! I've had a lot of fun converting my pens, although my hardware store never heard of Silicone Grease and sold me some other stuff that seals pipe threads. Poussiere de Lune was my choice for my first eyedropper, must be something about the color.

I'm slightly troubled by "90% pure"-- what's the remaining 10%, and what's it likely to do to the fabric of the pen? In the case of modern plastics, it's likely a non-issue, but I come from a profoundly vintage place and worry about that sort of thing constantly.

I had learned to use silicone grease for a number of things in the military but was having a terrible time trying to find it in automotive stores. Never occurred to me to check Ace, have to give it a go.
