A Green Day from Exaclair and a Giveaway

I need to apologize to Karen at Exaclair for not reviewing these items sooner. Please be sure to check out the Quo Vadis Blog and Rhodia Drive also.

Some time ago, she sent me a wonderful care package containing four items; a bottle of J. Herbin Diabolo Menthe ink, a box of G. Lalo Notes Tradition (deckle edged), a pad of G. Lalo Verge de France paper and a Clairefontaine Basics notebook, all in green.

I love the Verge de France paper and use in quite regularly. I have it in Champagne, but find that I like the green very much.

I also really like the notes. The box comes with 20 sheets and 20 envelopes. They are perfect for a short letter or a thank you note.

Both the Verge de France and the Traditions Notes are fountain pen friendly with no feathering, no bleedthrough and no showthrough with any of the inks that I have used. I'm rather fond of using a dark brown ink on these, it makes me think of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

The Basics notebook I previously reviewed here in conjunction with a review of J. Herbin Vert Empire and Perle Noire inks. This is a lovely notebook, with a flexible cover and wonderful Clairfontaine paper.

Below is my review of the J. Herbin Diabolo Menthe ink. When I first began the review and during my previous use of this ink I truly believed that it leaned more towards the blue side, I have revised that opinion and although it is not really green, it is more green that blue. Click on the image to view it in a larger format:

Oh, yeah I did mention a giveaway, didn't I? Ok, the giveaway item is the Clairefontaine Basics Notebook shown here. Only it is the pristine unused one that Karen included in the care package. Since I already have one, I thought that someone else might enjoy the extra one, and if you blog you could do a review.

Note added December 30: Just an FYI, this notebook has a green cover and is filled with white Clairefontaine paper. Please see my previous post which included this notebook.

Rules: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

1. Leave a comment no later that midnight on January 1, 2010. US Eastern Standard Time. This should give all my friends around the world time to enter if they wish. I will post this worldwide to the winner.

2. This is the most important rule - I will randomly chose a winner on January 2nd and post the results. After the results are posted you will have 24 hours to contact me - my contact info is in my Profile. If you do not contact me, I will choose another winner.

Happy New Year.

I love green and appreciated your review. I am using a journal that is not so fountain pen friendly and could use one that didn't make my lines turbo-wide, so enter me in the give-away. I will certainly review on my blog if I win. Thanks for generous offering!

Count me in, on the grounds that one cannot have too many notebooks. Memory, after all, does not serve as faithfully as the written page.

Do I need another notebook? Probably not but I can't resist entering. I tried, but gave in. I would love to see that Lalo geen paper since I like the white so much.

I love Clairefontaine paper but am often disappointed by the presentation of their notebooks - but this is lovely, very classic and traditional. Will have to chase one of these down if I'm not lucky enough this time around. :)

wonderful review. {It also inspired me to dig into my own box from Karen - albeit a bit sheepishly...}

I've been on an orange kick, but you make the green so inviting.

How nice of you to part with one of these notebooks!
I've never tried Clairefontaine paper; I am sure my Lamy's and Sheaffer fountain pens would like it. ;)
Happy New Year!

comment is kinda late, but it's not about the giveaway. i just wanted to remark on how impressive the ink sampler and review template is. I am very, very impressed at the thought that went into it and how comprehensive it is. It's a great idea. :)
