Whatever's 1st Anniversary

Today is the first anniversary of Whatever and we are going to celebrate with a little giveaway.

But first a little about these pens. I'm sure that if you are a fountain pen user, or if you have read this blog before, you recognize them. They are an Orange Lamy Safari and a Lamy Vista. The only real difference between these pens is that the Vista is a clear Demonstrator version of the Safari.

The beauty of these pens is many: they are inexpensive, about $30 USD retail; the nibs are interchangeable and are available in silver steel: EF, F, M, B, Italic 1.1, Italic 1.5 and Italic 1.9; or in black steel: EF, F, M, B, OM, OM, LH. This allows the experienced or novice user to experience a full range of nibs for a fairly low price.

Many of you here are aware I have three Safaris: Hot Pink, Lime Green and a wonderful gray, that I acquired as parts directly from Lamy, since the pen was no longer available. I received the Vista from a dear friend as a Christmas present and the Orange Lamy was an impulse purchase while I was out at the only local pen store.

That being said for some reason I never really bonded with this Orange Safari. Maybe it's the Irish in me... so what's the giveaway??

The orange Lamy Safari shown here with an M nib. To have a chance to win this pen please follow the rules carefully:

1. Leave a comment on this blog by midnight, US EST on Saturday May 8.

2. The winner will be announced on Sunday, May 9 (I know it's Mother's Day).

3. If you are the winner you will have one week to contact me via email. You can file my email in my Profile information.

4. If you do on contact me within one week, I will choose a new winner from the other entrants.

Good luck and thank you for reading.

Nice giveaway, Julie. The Safari is sort of like the modern day version of the Estie...well built, inexpensive and nice writers. Safaris are a great first pen. Please don't include me in the contest...I'm already lucky enough to own one, although I really like the orange. ;-) Happy Anniversary!

Congratulations, Julie! I am a ways off from one year of blogging, but I certainly can appreciate the thought and devotion of your one year. Please don't worry about adding me to the list of hopefuls for the orange Lamy Safari, as I already have the exact pen in my collection.
Beautiful day over here on the east coast.
Cheers!

Happy Anniversary! Mine was just a month ago, but I've been so busy working on the new website that I totally missed it (There may have been a passing thought about it).

Happy Blogaversary! Me, I'm thinking that orange Safari would look mighty fine next to a black Rhodia pad... or my purple Al-Star... :D

Congratulations on a splendid year of blogging! You have brought much pleasure to many! As others have mentioned, I already have an orange Safari, eternally filled with Noodler's Dragon's Napalm for grading papers, so don't include me in the contest, either. I recently gave away many of my Safaris to a friend who is getting back into fountain pens. The ones I kept were the Vista, Orange, Pink, Black, Purple, & Graphite.

Happy anniversary. I think the Safari is becoming the gateway pen to a number of "Web 2.0 generation" fountain pen collectors.

Oh...and orange is my favorite color. :)

Congratulations, omedeto gazimasu, felicitaciones.

One year of regular posting is indeed a great accomplishment. Especially when filled with informative material.

Keep on the good work.

How come there are some many stylophiles who write blogs?

All the best,

BT

I am just getting into fountain pens again and was thinking about trying a Lamy Safari. The orange is perfect because it's one of my school colors.

Greetings! I'm a newcomer to this blog. The other day in graduate school, my fellow classmate pulled out his fountain pen, which caused me to realize that (after 14 years of journaling), I had never taken the next step of writing into the world of the fountain. For that reason, I look forward to reading your blog to help me discern which one would be the best fit for when I have the money to actually get one.

Thanks for blogging, and happy one year!

Well, perhaps I should do something similar with my nigh-year old blog. Omedeto o tanjobi!

As far as an orange Safari goes, I've got enough Dutch coursing through me to really, really want one.

Happy Bloggerversary!!! :) I've been wanting an Orange Safari for so long... Got a Vista already and it's a great, great pen! Cheers!

I can't believe that I missed your new post! A BIG SUPER CONGRATULATION to have accomplished one year of (great) blogging. Thanks for all the effort you put into your blog - you certainly spread cheer and enthusiasm! You don't have to count me in - it is a GREAT giveaway, but I feel that since I already have my fair share of Lamy someone else should have the chance! A big virtual cake and hug! :D

Happy Anniversary, Julie! I've been wondering about the Lamy Safari FPs. All of my Lamys are Al-Stars, and while I can't imagine there is anything different between the two (other than the aluminum barrel vs. plastic and, of course, price) I would definitely love to try one out. So maybe a lovely orange gift is in my future. :)

First of all Happy Anniversary! It's really a nice blog. It's on my regular RSS reader. :-)

Well, I would love to have this orange pen to my Midori Traveler's Notebook, where I use the orange band. I wish I get it this time.

How kind of you to give on your first anniversary! I'm limited on funds so can't really buy pens right now (unfortunately). This would be a nice way to add to the collection.

I've heard so much about the Lamy Safari, but never tried one. Interchangeable nibs would be fun to play with! Thanks for the chance to win, and I hope all is well with you! :-)

Happy anniversary! I've tried blogging and it just hasn't kicked in for me. But the Lamy Safaris? Love 'em!! Love the M nibs, too. I have a spare F nib, if you'd like it. Found your blog through Twitter - will add it to my list of other reviewer blogs.

Congratulations on the commitment and diligence needed to reach one year of blogging. I appreciate people taking time to put new and interesting news of fountain pens, ink, paper on the web. I have a blue Safari, but sure wouldn't mind an orange one!

Congratulations with your anniversary!! I'm new to fountain pens and would be very happy to win one like these. Ever since I got my fountain pen I want to write with it. I even joined a postcard site to be able to give it a good use (www.postcrossing.com). I especially like to write with orange ink, and what better than to do it with an orange Lamy pen? Interchangeable nibs? What a wonderful idea. I would like to experiment with it to know what all sorts of nibs are like. I've heard of the italic nibs, but how they feel? I hope I'm gonna find out.....
Anyway, happy anniversary!!

I have a red Safari with a fine nib and really like it, so it would be neat to have the medium nib to compare. Choose me!
